Common Ground Church's Beliefs
At Common Ground Church, these are our foundational beliefs:
- The Bible
- We believe the Bible is the inspired, infallible, authoritative Word of God.
- God
- We believe in one God, eternally existent in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. This is known as the Trinity.
- Jesus
- We believe in the deity of Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, His sinless life, His miracles, His atoning death, His bodily resurrection, His complete conquest over the power of Satan, His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and His sure return.
- Holy Spirit
- We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit. We believe His indwelling enables Christians to live Godly lives full of power.
- The Church
- We believe the church consists of all those who truly believe in Jesus Christ and His atoning death, and who trust in Him as their Lord and Savior. We believe that the local church is the vehicle of God working in the earth to establish His Kingdom.
- Salvation
- We believe that regeneration by the Holy Spirit is essential for the salvation of the lost, and that this salvation is wholly by grace through faith.
- Gifts of the Holy Spirit
- We believe that all the gifts of the Holy Spirit listed in 1 Corinthians 12 are available and in operation in the Body of Christ today.
- Baptism and Holy Communion
- We believe in the ordinance of Baptism in water (by immersion) in the name of the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit, on the authority of Jesus? name. We also believe in the ordinance of Holy Communion.
- Heaven and Hell
- We believe that people were created to exist forever. We will either exist eternally separated from God by sin or eternally with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is hell. To be eternally in union with Him is eternal life in Heaven. Heaven and hell are real places of eternal existence.
- Unity of Believers
- We believe in the spiritual unity of all who believe in our Lord Jesus Christ.
